Born in Oklahoma David McWater went to NYU in New York City opening the first of some 20+ taverns over a period of time. The boxing bug got in him and he worked with legendary matchmaker Don Elbaum for years. He then ventured out on his own calling his organization Split-T Management which now he has over 30 boxers signed.
McWater is an avid genealogist, sports fan and a former professional poker player. This writer was fortunate enough to have met him in Philadelphia when one of McWater’s boxers “The New” Ray Robinson was boxing. Robinson is world rated now with a 24-2 (10) record and trained by one of Philly’s best in “Bozy” Ennis.
Recently over HBO McWater had Antonio Nieves, 17-2-2 on the show. Some of the more experienced boxers he has under contract are Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin, 19-0 (11), Wesley Tucker, 14-1 (8), Michael Moore, 15-1 (7), and Joseph Williams, 12-0 (8).
