CANASTOTA, NY – FEBRUARY 21, 2017 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced today former lightweight champion Livingstone Bramble will be among special guests for the 2017 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend festivities set for June 8-11th in “Boxing’s Hometown.”
“Livingstone Bramble was a fan favorite throughout his championship career,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are excited that he will be returning to Canastota to take part in Hall of Fame Weekend events.”
Born in Saint Croix, Virgin Islands, Bramble turned pro in 1980. He captured the WBA lightweight championship in 1984 with a win over Hall of Famer Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini (TKO 14) and reigned as champion until 1986. During his professional career (1980-2003), Bramble registered wins over Gaetan Hart, Edwin Curet, Tyrone Crawley and Harold Brazier among others.
Events planned for the weekend include a Friday Night Fiesta, banquet, parade, golf tournament, boxing autograph card show, cocktail party and the Official Induction Ceremony honoring the Class of 2017.
The Class of 2017 includes Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield, Marco Antonio Barrera, Johnny “Mi Vida Loca” Tapia, Eddie Booker, trainer Johnny Lewis, ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Sr., judge Jerry Roth, journalist / broadcaster Steve Farhood and broadcaster Barry Tompkins.
An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad are scheduled to participate in weekend festivities.
