At the Shrine Exhibition Center, in Los Angeles, CA, Saturday, over Fox S1, then over to Fox PBC after 3 fights presented by Warriors Boxing – Leon Margules, Sampson Boxing – Sampson Lewkowicz and TGB Promotions – Tom Brown, interim WBA World Super Middleweight champion David “Osvary” Morrell easily stopped Mike “Imagine Me” Gavronski battled in a non-title bout, in the third round.

In the Main Event David “Osvary” Morrell, 4-0 (3), #170, of Cuba and Minneapolis, MN, stopped Mike Gavronski, 26-4-1 (16), #167 1/2, of Lockport, IL, at 2:45 of the third round of a scheduled 10 with a first round knockdown. The referee was Jack Reiss who had seen enough of the mismatch.

In the co-feature Juan “Juanito” Macias Montiel, 22-4-2 (22), #161 1/2, of Los Mochis, Sinaola, MEX, stopped James “Mandigo Warrior” Kirkland, 34-3 (30), #162, of San Antonio, TX, at 1:56 of the first round after 3 knockdowns of a scheduled 10.

Montiel had Kirkland on the canvas after 30 seconds from a short left on the chin. Just a little later a flurry of punches from Montiel and down went Kirkland for another 8-count. After getting up Montiel was all over him with another flurry and for the third time Kirkland went down with referee Cantu wisely calling a halt.

Super Middleweight Alantez “SlyAza” Fox, 27-2-1 (12), #167 ¼, of Forestville, MD, defeated Marco “Madman” Fernandez, 14-4-1 (3), #166 1/2″, of Fresno, CA, over 10 rounds.

In the first three rounds there was more wrestling than boxing. In the fourth the taller Fox finally started moving and using his jab until a clash of heads bringing blood from the left eyebrow and nose.

In the sixth round it was the first round Fox used his boxing the entire round to win it. The eighth and ninth Fernandez was following and not cutting off the ring eating the jab from Fox. In the tenth and final round Fox landed the best punch of the round a left uppercut on the chin of Hernandez. The referee was Ray “Touch them if You want” Corona.

Scores were 96-94, 97-93 and 98-92 with this writer 97-93.

19 year-old Welterweight southpaw Jesus “El Mono” Ramos, 14-0 (13), #144 1/2, of Casa Grande, AZ, impressed stopping Naim “The Dream” Nelson, 14-5 (1), #143 ¾, of Philadelphia, PA, after four rounds and two knockdowns in a scheduled 10.

In the first three rounds southpaw Ramos was able to cut off the ring landing a right hook to the body in the final ten seconds of the third dropping Nelson for an 8-count. In the fourth a counter right hook to the head from Ramos drove Nelson into the ropes ruled a knockdown by referee Ray Corona. Nelson was also cut under the left eye. His corner wisely stopped the fight after the round.

Super Welter Radzhab “The Phyton” Butaev, 13-0 (10), #149 1/2, of Russia and Brooklyn, NY, knocked out Terry Chatwood, 9-1-1 (5), #148 1/2, of North Little Rock, ARK, at 1:03 of the third of an 8.

In third round a left hook to the body from Butaev and down went Chatwood for the count from referee Jerry Cantu.

18 year-old twin Super Bantamweight Chavez “The Beast” Barrientes, 4-0 (3), #123 ¾, of Las Vegas, NV, 36 year-old southpaw Paul “The Craftsman” Carroll, 4-1 (4), #122 1/2, of Columbia, S.C., 4 rounds.

In the third round a combination right and left on the chin from Barrinetes and down went Carroll. From the time he got up he grabbed Barrientes who was not impressive though winning at the end of the round with the Carroll corner not letting him out.

18 year-old twin Featherweight Angel “AK-47” Barrientes, 3-1 (2), #123 1/2, of Las Vegas, NV, was upset by stoppage by Travon “Gutta” Lawson, 4-0 (3), #122, of Tuscaloosa, AL, at 0:55 of the third of a 4.

In the first three rounds Barrientes had his way countering the aggressive Lawson. In the fourth Lawson hurt Barreintes with a flurry ending with a right on the chin for an 8-count. Referee Eddie Hernandez asked Barrientes to put his hands up and when he didn’t respond waved it off.
