At the Wild Card Boxing in Hollywood, CA, Thursday over NBC Sports Network, PR Sports Promotions Inc – Peter Rasmussen, Tom Loeffler, Bash Boxing – Steve Bash presented in the Main Event Brandon “Cannon” Adams, of Watts, CA, stopped Sonny “Prime Time” Duversonne, of Avon Park, FL, and in co-feature Larry Gomez of West Jordan, UT, lost to Brian Ceballo of PR and New York over 10 rounds.
In the co-feature Larry Gomez, 10-2 (8), #146 ¾, of West Jordan, UT, lost a hard fought decision to Brian Ceballo, 12-0 (6), #145 3/4, of New York, NY, over 10 rounds, for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title.
In the first four rounds Ceballo had an edge being the quicker of the two, but Gomez had a better fifth round taking it. Ceballo came back to take next four rounds. In the tenth and final round Gomez lost a point from referee Raul Caiz, Jr., due to losing his mouthpiece for third or fourth time. Gomez had a good round otherwise.
Scores were 96-93, 98-91 and 99-90 with this writer 98-91.
In the Main Event Super Welterweight Brandon “Cannon” Adams, 22-3 (14), #156, of Watts, CA, stopped late sub Sonny “Prime Time” Duversonne, 11-3-2 (8), #156, of Avon Park, FL, in a scheduled 8.
In a good first round the body work gave Adams an edge. In the second round half a dozen unanswered punches from Adams caused referee Jack Reiss to halt the fight with Duversonne in trouble.
Welterweight Gor Yeritsyan, 14-0 (12), #147 ¾, of Yerivan, Armenia, stopped Mahonri “Russo Jr” Montes, 36-10-1 (25), #148, of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, MEX, at 0:18 of the sixth in a scheduled 8 rounds.
In the first three rounds Yeritsyan used an effective jab followed with right crosses to the chin of Montes taking the rounds. In the third round Montes suffered a bloody nose and a bloody left ear in the fourth round with Referee Jack Reiss bringing in the ring physician after the fourth round. In the fifth round Yeritsyan had his way to the point the fight was close to being stopped. In the sixth round Reiss saw enough and called the fight.
Cruiserweight Princess Hairston, 1-1 (1), of Lynchburg, VA, lost by knockout to Danielle Perkins, 2-0 (1), of Houston, TX, in fifth round of a scheduled 6 rounds.
