Sports spontaneity! Ron ‘R-Truth’ Killings won the WWE Raw 24/7 title for the 37th time on Monday, June 1, 2020, by pinning the champion, Rob Gronkowski on the WWE Raw show. Gronkowski won the title on WrestleMania 36 on April 5, 2020, when he pinned Mojo Rawley. There have been 346 champions since the ‘belt’ was created in May 2019.
Gronkowski, 31, who recently announced he was coming out of football retirement to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 2020 season which is still nonexistent, was seen in a Monday night video. While attempting to film a TikTok dance video in a front yard with a friend, the friend took off a sweatshirt to reveal a WWE referee’s uniform. It appears an unknown gardener nearby in a hat and facemask was R-Truth, who caught Gronkowski by surprise, suddenly grabbing him from behind and pinning him before taking off with the 24/7 belt.
MMA and boxing are restarting in the days and weeks to come, and hopefully will be of a higher level and competitive more serious nature than the impromptu video clip sports format now being made available to the sports diehards. As the coronavirus pandemic dies down, professional and amateur sports will reengage, and will eventually return to normal. The 24/7 WWE Raw belt, is, in addition to being raw, nothing short of savage in the realm of creative entertainment in the face current worldwide semi-isolation still in effect. What the WWE Raw title does is provide some sensible senselessness in sports. The last few months have been incomprehensible anyway, so, some sports insanity for sports junkies can be said to provide some welcome relief with a touch of humor. After all, everybody, even sports fans need to be able to put a smile on their face during tough times. Besides which Gronkowski needs to concentrate on football. He ain’t Hulk Hogan.
