TG Promotions, MP Promotions and About Billions Promotions over SHOWTIME PPV presented a pair of world title bouts on a ten bout card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV, Saturday night!
In the Main Event former six division and current WBA World Welterweight champion southpaw Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao, 61-7-2 (39), of Saragani Providence, in the Philippines, won a lopsided decision over the four division champion Adrian “The Problem” Broner, 33-4-1 (24), of Cincinnati, OH, over 12 rounds to retain his title.
In the first round Pacquial drove Broner into the ropes with a flurry of punches. Pacquiao In a close round forced the action putting Broner on the defense.
In the third round Pacquiao drove Broner into the ropes with a flurry of punches. Broner landed a lead right on the chin of Pacquiao. Pacquiao landed several punches as Broner was running from him. In the fourth round Broner countered Pacquiao with a solid right on the chin. Pacquiao landed a combination to the chin of Broner that had him shaking his head. Broner landed the final punch of the round a right to the chin of Pacquiao.
In the fifth round Pacquiao landed the first punch a lead left to the body of Broner. Pacquiao has continuous head movement that seems to cause Broner problems. Broner warned for using the scuff of his glove on the face of Paquiao. In the final minute Pacquiao drove Broner into the ropes with a left to the chin.
In the sixth round Pacquiao rushed in landing three punhes onthe chin of Broner. A lead left by Pacquiao to the body hurt Broner. Broner landed a lead right to the chin of Pacquiao. Pacquiao walked into a Broner left hook to the head.
In the seventh round Pacquiao landed a solid lead left on the chin of Broner. Pacquiao landed a dozen unanswered punches hurting Broner. Pacquiao chased Broner down landing another three punches to the head. In the eighth round Broner landed a lead right to the chin of Pacquiao. Pacquiao anded a hard left hook rocking Broner on the chin. Pacquiao landed the final punch of the round a straight left on the chin of Broner.
In the ninth round Pacquiao landed a left to the chin of Broner. Broner warned for coming in low grabbing Pacquiao. Broner landed a lead right on the chin of Pacquiao. Pacquiao landed a hard left driving Broner back several steps. Pacquiao drove Broner into the ropes with a flurry of punches. Broner landed a right and was countered by a Pacquiao left that drove in backwards and almost down.
In the tenth round Broner landed a solid left on the chin of Broner. Pacquiao had chased Broner around the ring the entire fight. In the eleventh round Pacquiao drove Broner into the ropes with a combination to the head. Broner knowing he was way behind in the fight was loading up in the first half of the round. In the second half of the round he was on the run again.
In the twelfth and final round after half a minute Pacquiao landed a solid body shot with his left. Broner warned for a low punch. Pacquiao landed a left and right combo to the chin of Broner.
Scores were 116-112 Cheatam and Feldman with Moretti 117-111. This writer had it 119-109.
Former southpaw WBA Bantamweight champion Rau’shee Warren, 16-4 (4), of Cincinnati, OH, lost to southpaw Nordine Oubaali, 15-0 (11), of Paris, FR, for the vacant WBC World Bantamweight title over 12 rounds.
Oubaali defeated Warren in the Olympics so tonight was the rematch. In the first round Oubaali chased Warren thru out getting the better of any exchange. In the second round Oubaali landed a left on the side of Warren’s neck. With half a minute left in the round Oubaali knocked the head of Warren back with a combination.
In the third round Oubaali side stepped Warren hitting him with a left on the chin. Ouballi drove Warren into the ropes landing a flurry of unanswered punches. Oubaali caught Warren on the ropes landing a flurry of punches. Warren landed the last punches of the round with a combination to the chin of Oubaali.
In the fourth round Warren showed his hand speed buy Oubaali the harder hitter of the two. Oubaali landed a lead left counter over a Warren jab. In the fifth round inside of the first minute Warren landed his best punch up to this point a right hook to the chin of Oubaali knocking him back a step or two. Inside of the final minute both boxers landed right hooks on the chin. In the seventh round Oubaali gets the best of Warren in the exchanges. Warren landed a right hook to the chin of Oubaali just prior to the bell on the chin.
In the eighth round Warren became more aggressive realizing he’s behind in the fight. With twenty seconds left in the round Oubaali rocked Warren with a right hook on the chin. Warren is showing Oubaali too much respect for a former champion. In the ninth round Warren lands a flurry of punches and moves away. Warren warned for hitting on the break by referee Vic Draculich. Oubaali got Warren’s attention with a left cross on the chin. Oubaali landed a pair of chopping lefts to the chin of Warren in the closing seconds of the round.
In the tenth round Oubaali landed a hard right hook on the chin of Warren. Inside of the final minute of the round Oubaali landed a hard right hook on the chin of Warren. In the eleventh round Warren comes out firing. His corner encouraged him to go for the knockout with the fight on the line and behind in the fight. Near the one minute mark left in the round they had the best exchange of the fight. Whenever Warren comes in Oubaali counters him.
In the twelfth and final round Warren comes out firing with Oubaali waiting for him firing back. Halfway thru the round Oubaali landed a solid lead left to the chin of Warren who is coming forward. Warren was warned to keep his punches up. Ouballi had a right hook kblocked by Warren but a following left nailed Warren on the chin.
Scores were Ricardo Ocasio 115-113, Julie Lederman 116-112 and Steve Weisfeld 117-111. This writer had it 118-110.
“This was a dream come true. Warren had speed. I am proud for my father and Morocco. I was born in France by am of Moroccan decent,” said Oubaali.
Former WBC Super Middleweight and WBA Light Heavyweight champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack, 22-2-3 (13), from Sweden out of Las Vegas, NV, lost in a lopsided bloody mess to former USA Olympian “Sir” Marcus Browne, 23-0 (16), of Staten Island, NY, for the vacant WBC Silver Light Heavyweight title.
In the first round after half a minute Browne lands the first punch a straight left on the chin of Jack. Jack landed a lead right but was countered by a left from Browne. Jack in the final seconds missed with a lead right and following right and got countered by a Browne left on the chin at the bell. In the second round Jack’s right leads fall short as Browne counters with a left to the chin. Though a former 2-division champ Jack seems to be having problems with Browne being a southpaw.
In the third round Browne lands three of his four punches to the body of Jack. Jack was warned for hitting behind the head by referee Tony Weeks as he had Browne against the ropes. Jack actually rushed Browne using his head driving him into the ropes. Referee Weeks warned him about using his head. Jack rushed in again not throwing punches getting tied up by Browne.
In the fourth round Jack throws a lead right that Browne blocked with his left glove. Browne comes out firing punches at Jack. Jack is very frustrated trying to land punches on Browne. At the end of the round Browne starts showboating and smiling at the former champ.
In the fifth round Browne landed a combination to the head of Jack and got tied up. Browne landed a right hook that Jack walked into. Jack looked like an amateur coming in not throwing punches trying to bull Browne into the ropes. Browne landed the last punch of the round a counter left on the chin of Jack.
In the sixth round Browne landed a pair of left hands to the chin of Jack. Jack was warned for using his head. Browne came right back landing a combination to the chin. Browne landed a solid left uppercut to the mid-section of Jack. Jack seemed bewildered with Browne’s countering him.
In the seventh round Jack lands a jaab and misses with a following right badly. Browne landed a lead left on the chin of Jack. In a clash of heads Jack got a nasty cut on his forehead causing blood to flow down his face.
In the eighth round Jack landed a body shot and got countered with a combination shaking him up. Jack missed with a right and got countered with a 3-punch combination as the blood was flowing down his face. Browne landed a combination and a third punch went low and he received warning from referee Weeks.
In the ninth round Browne came out landing a right hook to the head of Jack. Jack missed with a wild right going around in a 360′. Browne keeps using his jab on the cut of Jacks making the blood flow. Browne landed a solid right hook to the chin of Jack.
In the tenth round Browne landed a flurry of body shots. Jack came back landing a combination to the head of Browne. Jack forced Browne against the ropes landing a solid right but was countered by a left on the chin. Browne landed a 3-punch combination to the body and head of Jack. Referee Weeks took a point from Browne for an infraction.
In the eleventh round Browne rocks Jack with a combination. Jacks face is a mask of blood. Referee Weeks calls in the ring physician halfway thru the round. Browne landed a jab followed by a solid left to the chin of Jack. Jack’s blood has covered both referee Weeks and Browne.
In the twelfth and final round Browne lands a flurry of punches to the head of Jack. Jack pinned Browne against the ropes landing four punches to the body. A short left from Browne landed flush on the chin of Jack. Jack landed a right to the head of Browne. Browne landed a 3-punch combination to the head of the bloodied former champ Jack. Jack’s cut by the end of the fight was a gash of about four inches. Weeks did a poor job.
The scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 119-108. This writer had it 120-108.
Featherweight Hugo Ruiz, 39-4 (33), of Los Mochis Sinaola MEX, won a lackluster 10 round decision over Alberto Guevara, 27-4 (12), of Tijuana, MEX.
In the first round after a feeling out halfway thru the round Ruiz dropped Guevara a one day sub with a pair of rights and a left hook on the chin. He beat the count of referee Jay Nady. In the fourth round Ruiz continued to chase Guevara who landed the first punch of the round a right on the chin of Ruiz. Under a minute left in the round Guevara landed a double left hook to the head of Ruiz. Guevara landed the last punch of the round a right to the chin of Ruiz.
In the fifth round at the halfway point a frustrated Ruiz was warned for a low blow by referee Nady. There hasn’t been much action since the first round knockdown. In the seventh round Ruiz landed three punches to the body of Guevara finally catching up to him. Guevara while inside landed a chopping right to the head of Ruiz. Ruiz cornered Guevara landing a left uppercut on the chin. In the ninth round Ruiz cornered Guevara with three left hooks to the body forcing Guevara to grab him. Whenever Guevara feints a punch Ruiz backs off.
In the tenth and final round Ruiz continued to chase Guevara only landing body punches when he was able to catch up to him.
Scores are 100-89, and 99-90 twice as did this writer have it.
