This writer did an article 1976 vs 1984 Olympic Teams with Manny Steward and Joe Clough as judges. Clough and this writer had it 8-3 for the 1976 team while Steward had it 8-2-1 not voting on Davis-Whitaker. This of course was based on the boxers as amateurs and didn’t include their professional records. Steward well known for heading the Kronk Team doesn’t need any introduction. Clough was head trainer of the 1983 Pan American Team and trained such Olympians as “Sugar” Ray Seales, Davey Armstrong, Leo Randolph, Rocky Lockridge and Johnny Bumphus when he was head of the Tacoma Boys Club.
