Scranton, PA (March 19, 2016) – The Pennsylvania Golden Gloves brought live boxing to Scranton for the first time since 2002. The Mall at Steamtown’s food court in downtown Scranton was the unusual venue for the Central District quarterfinals. Nearly 1,000 fight fans converged on the Las Vegas style ring for the 20 bout card.
The highlights of the card was local Scranton boxer Rocky Marzan defeating Luis Morales as well as Scranton transplant and Allentown native Jimmy Kelleher beating Rasheed Johnson by TKO. All of the winners will move on to the semifinals in Hanover in April.
Following the success of this event, boxing is expected to return to the mall this summer.
