Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is defending his WBC heavyweight title for the third time on January 16, 2016 against Poland’s top-ranked heavyweight, Artur “The Pin” Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs).
The 30 year old Wilder hails from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and has his sights set on unifying the three major heavyweight titles. In the undercard, the controversially vacated IBF title will be decided between Charles Martin (22-0-1) and Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1). The IBF decided to strip the title from Tyson Fury after he defeated Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA Championship because he had a mandatory rematch clause in his contract.
Wilder has expressed a strong interest in unifying the titles with a particular eye on the winner of the Fury-Klitschko rematch.
The fight will be broadcast live on Showtime. Tickets to watch the fight live at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY are available and can be purchased at BarclaysCenter.com.
