Maureen Shea Scores Third Round TKO Over Tough Norma Faris

Bronx, NY (May 15, 2010) – Maureen Shea made a successful return to her hometown of the Bronx with a dominant third-round TKO victory over Norma Faris of Puerto Rico at the Paradise Theater. The bout was televised by Telefutura as part of their “Solo Boxeo Tecate'” series and promoted by Star Boxing in association with Golden Boy Promotions. The time was 2:59.

Shea, who now holds a record of 14-2 (8 KO), overwhelmed her opponent with an aggressive body attack from the opening bell that didn’t end until the referee interceded. Faris, 3-3, had never previously been stopped.

“The electricity last night walking out to the ring was incredible,” said Shea. “I felt like I was exactly where God wanted me to be – in the Bronx for my first fight back with my fans!

“I felt like I hadn’t skipped a beat after my nine month layoff. Having my new trainers Aroz Gist and Pedro Saiz in my camp and corner assures me that we are on our way to great things.”

Shea, who moonlights as a writer, will be in press row tonight covering the boxing event at Madison Square Garden featuring the HBO-televised junior welterweight title fight between Amir Khan and Paul Malignaggi.
