Newark’s Mikey and Alex “Brick City Bullet” Perez are both slated to get back in the ring outside of the Garden State next month.

Mikey, a 6-0 lightweight that won the 2008 National Golden Gloves title, takes on Florida based Georgian Sergi Ganjelashvili (4-4-1) on the second in Las Vegas. The bout comes on the eve of the Jones-Hopkins card, thus an abundance of media members are likely to be on hand.

“Its cool to be on these big cards, but I would really love to fight back home since there are a lot of people who want to see me”, The 20 year old stated emphatically.

Perez and Ganjelasvili meet over six rounds.

Mikey’s older brother Alex notified GSFS last night at the fights in North Bergen that he is scheduled to face Octavio Narvaez (7-9-1, 4 KO’s) the 24th on the Tomas Adamek-Cris Arreola card in Ontario, CA. Narvaez, a tough Nicaraguan, dropped his last six bouts against top level opposition, but made an everlasting impression amongst locals. Narvaez came close to stopping Carldstat’s Vivian Harris back in 2008, decking him twice in the opening round before getting stopped in the 6th.

Perez, a promising welterweight prospect, has just one fight since Decemebr of 07′, winning a minor title last March in Puerto Rico. The lanky southpaw has also received kudos for work as a sparring partner in the past, mimicking former world champion Carlos Quintana for Miguel Cotto and Joel Julio prior to their fights against him. At 10-0 with 6 KO’s, Perez is looking to get re acclimated and stay busy.

“I am training real hard and looking to get past issues”, Perez said about his inactivity and problems unrelated to boxing. “I am ready to get back in there and do what I have to do.”

Perez and Narvaez are scheduled to duke it out over six rounds. Ironically, the card is being co-promoted by Totowa based Main Events, who handle the aforementioned Adamek.
