Judah vs. Clottey Stopped During Round 9

By: Christopher Roche

Joshua Clottey cut Zab Judah over the right eye, in round nine, and the bout went to the cards, tonight in Las Vegas.

The cut was ruled an accidental headbutt by referee Robert Byrd, and the judges ruled a narrow unanimous decision for Clottey. The ringside Doctor said that Judah told him he could not see, even after removing the blood.

Clottey looked to be gaining momentum, after being outboxed in the early rounds, but Judah definitely fought a determined battle. Judah summoned the crowd as evidence that he won the fight, and they cheered vigorously for him. However, the official decision went against him, and Clottey won the IBF welterweight belt.
