Wolak Suffers his First Loss

By: Christopher Roche

In a huge step up in class, Pawel Wolak lost a unanimous decision to Ishe Smith in a spirited battle in Brooklyn, on Shobox.

Wolak came at Smith from the opening bell, but Smith smartly countered the aggression with well-placed uppercuts and a solid jab. Wolak never gave in, however, and he rallied down the stretch. In the end, Smith mustered enough offense to pull the fight out 96-94 (twice) and 97-93.

In the opening televised bout, Jorge “The Truth” Teron, of the Bronx, stopped Michael Lozado in round six. Lozado went to one knee, after a vicious left to the body, and he returned there for a ten count after another identical blow. Teron, who is trained by New York City great Mark Breland, moved to 22-0-1, and he is likely looking for a big lightweight matchup in the near future.
