“Rated R” is “Rated X”

Holt Dusts himself off twice to crush Torres

By: Christopher Roche

Kendall “Rated R” Holt tested the canvas at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood, but he rose to the occasion and pasted WBO Jr. Welterweight Champ Ricardo Torres.

In a torrid first round, Holt got dropped by Torres with a hard right hand, but the tough New Jersey native bounced right back up. Holt was briefly caught again, and he dropped to his knees, but he again bounced up, despite being hit again after the knockdown.

Holt still looked solid, after the knockdowns, and he trapped Torres against the ropes and ended things with a vicious right hand. Torres slumped against the ropes and was not even counted out. Referee Jay Nady stopped the bout at :61 of the first round.

The 27 year-old Holt avenges his loss to Torres and wins the WBO title. The 28 year-old Torres, of Colombia, drops to 32-2, 28 KO’s, and Holt, of Paterson, NJ brings back the title and moves his record to 24-2, 13 KO’s. The bout was telvised on Shobox.
