By: Christopher Roche

Joel Casamayor stopped Michael Katsidis in round ten, via TKO. Katsidis was down twice in round one, but he rallied back to take most of the middle rounds. Casamayor went down and out of the ring in round six, but he managed to stay viable and keep the action close.

Katsidis made the mistake of rushing Casamayor in round ten, and he caught a check left hook, which looked like a Mayweather Hatton replay. Katsidis got up from the shot, but he was finished, and the referee waved it off after a few more shots. The bout finished at :30 of round ten.

Casamayor, 36, moved to 36-3-1, 22 KO’s. The 27 year-old Katsidis drops to 23-1, 20 KO’s. This was a fight of the year candidate as both men spilled their guts out. Katsidis was ahead on two cards, when the bout was stopped.
