The boxer’s canvas, the sweat and blood of the athlete, these are the many elements captured through the professional paintings of Jace David McTier. Known as for his cutting edge portrayal of sporting art, Jace has combined his portrait career with his admiration for boxing. From Ali’s “Rope a Dope” to that bone crushing blow of “Impact” shown on the face of the unlucky pugilist, to the beauty of Laila Ali or the stark strength of Rocky Marciano– his stunning brushwork and color incredibly emblazons the energy that is the fighter onto the artists’ canvas.

His interest in sport began through baseball, as he
was a talented pitcher that soon had to choose between
baseball and a career in art. In the meantime, he
trained his brother, Ty McTier, who is now pursuing
pitching and playing first base at the collegiate
level. Jace McTier was trained to paint wildlife and
sporting art and in 1996 had his first of many
commissions to paint oil portraits. McTier continues
to work in oil, as well as training other young
athletes in various sports. He brushes out his passion
for boxing in eye-popping oil paint on canvas, which
are the tools of his trade. His study of the human
form in motion translates into an energy and force
that is rarely achieved on canvas.
