Judah Returns on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights”

By: Christopher Roche

Brick City area superstar Zab “Super” Judah makes his return to the ring Friday at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, MS. Judah, the 29 year-old Brooklynite, can crack with the best of the welterweights, but he has not won a fight in over two years.

Judah, 34-5, 25 KO’s, looks to get back in the win column against veteran Edwin Vazquez of Puerto Rico. Vazquez, 35, has won 2 of his last 3, and he dropped a decision to Ricky Hatton’s brother, Matthew Hatton in his last bout, which was on the Hatton vs. Jose Luis Castillo undercard back in June.

When Judah enters the building, anything can happen. In the past, audiences have seen the New York legend attack a referee and on another occasion cause a near riot in the ring. In Judah’s last ESPN bout, against Reuben Galvan, rain washed away his outdoor main event, and after hours of labor and TV delays, the card moved inside only to be stopped in the first round because of a headbutt. After the no-contest, Judah was able to jaw with future vanquisher Miguel Cotto, who was in the ESPN studio, while Pacman Jones looked on at ringside…as I said, anything can happen when Judah is in the building.

On top of Judah’s bout, ESPN will have Shane Mosley and Cotto in the studio. The season finale of “Friday Night Fights” promises to be entertaining.
