Litzau Stops Lucero

By: Christopher Roche

In a bout that did not tell us much about “The American Boy”, Jason Litzau stopped Emmanuel Lucero near the end of the second round in Valley Center, CA tonight.

Lucero gave up five inches in height, and he had been stopped in three of his last six fights. Most of Lucero’s previous work took place at junior featherweight, and the 5’5″ Lucero moved up to take on Litzau.

Litzau dropped Lucero in the first with a left hand, and the rest was elementary. Litzau poured it on in the second and overwhelmed his opponent, and the referee waived off the bout at 2:48 of round 2.

Litzau raised his record to 22-1, 19 KO’s, and Lucero dropped to 23-5-1, 14 KO’s. Lucero announced his retirement after the bout.

Litzau and Main Events are looking to get a title shot in the near future, and the young Minnesotan got the job done tonight.

*Note: This bout was part of ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights”.
