In what looks like the perfect match-up on paper, Johnnie “Lumberjack” Edwards looks to continue his winning ways when he takes on Olivier Lontchi on Friday, Augugt 3rd.

The fight takes place at the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and will be part of a GYM Promotions televised card to be shown on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights.

The fight will be a 12 round NABA Title defense for Edwards (12-1 7kos) as he travels into hostile territory against Canadian Lontchi (12-0-1 6kos). At only 5’5″ Lontchi should be made to order for the 5’4″ Edwards who will get a chance to bang with a guy close
to his height and with a near identical professional record.

Edwards is coming off an upset of sorts by scoring a short notice decision win over lightweight prospect Jaime Sandoval (14-2) on May 18th in Colorado. For
this fight Edwards moves back down to his best and most effective weight of 126lbs and Lontchi should provide for a good test. Edwards also has an impressive win over former featherweight champion Eric Aiken.

On the heels of his friend Paul Williams’ WBO Welterweight title victory on July 14th, Edwards, who along with Williams hails from Aiken, South Carolina, looks to make a name for himself and move into position for a world title shot.

Never one to run or turn away from a challenge, the former Marine Edwards is anxious and ready for this bout and fans should expect to see his best.
