Happy Birthday to the United States of America

While July 4, 1776 is recognized as the United States’ birthday, George Washington did not become our first President until April 30, 1789. On that spring day in lower Manhattan, NY, not Washington, D.C., the former General was inaugurated as the first President of the United States.

There are no boxing matches scheduled in America today. However, over two hundred years after Washington was inaugurated in Manhattan, an international grudge match emerged a short distance away in Coney Island between Takeru Kobayashi of Japan and Joey Chestnut of the United States.
