Greenville’s best professional boxer Berry Butler, won a 6 round unanimous decision against Artem Solomko in Munich, Germany, Saturday night. The fight took place at Olympic Hall in front of 12,500 fans on the undercard of 1988 Olympic gold medalist Henry Maske’s 12 round unanimous decision win against North Dakota’s Virgil Hill.

Butler, known as “Killa Bee” because of his knockout prowess put on an entertaining and dominating performance but was extended the limit by the durable Solemko. Butler also served as one of Henry Maske’s chief sparring partners for this fight with Virgil Hill, a rematch of their close fight in 1996, won by the 1984 Olympic silver medalist Hill. Maske’s win is considered a major upset due to the fact that he was making this comeback after more than 11 years out of the ring. Few professional boxers have made successful returns after such long layoffs. George Foreman being the exception.
