Hill-Maske PPV show Saturday from Germany

MUNICH, Germany (March 28, 2007) – Cruiserweights Virgil “Quicksilver” Hill and Henry “The Gentleman” Maske square-off Saturday, 10-plus years since they originally fought in the same venue, in the 12-round special attraction headlining “The Rematch” pay-per-view card, live from Olympia Hall in Munich.

“The Rematch,” promoted by WHS International, will be broadcast live in the United States on cable and satellite pay-per-view starting at 4 PM/ET, 1 PM/PT. The event is being distributed for pay-per-view by Integrated Sports and will be available via iN Demand, DirecTV and TVN for a suggested retail price of only $24.95.

Versatile announcer Benny Ricardo, former NFL place kicker, will handle the blow-by-blow call, while award-winning Al Bernstein serves as color commentator.

“People are going to see a big event,” Hills said from Bavaria, “second only to a major show in Las Vegas. This is much more than an opportunity to see two guys squaring off at the tender age of 43. I’m having more fun than I’ve ever had. I’ve already won, now I just need to win the fight. I mean I’m in Germany at one of its best hotels and making a helluva salary. A lot of people have come up to me to say something or take pictures. I’ve signed a lot of autographs, too.

“I’ve been training since October, so I already was in good shape. I will be here a month when we fight and now I’m in great fighting shape. I’ve put in the work and done everything right. I definitely won’t have any excuses because I’m physically fit and mentally prepared. I think knowing he lost to me is an important aspect. No matter what, it’s a loss as long as he lives. For me, it’s just another fight.”

Future Hall of Fame boxer Hill (50-5, 23 KOs), five-time world champion and reigning WBA cruiserweight title-holder, knocked previously unbeaten IBF light heavyweight king Maske into retirement with a 12-round split decision (116-113, 115-113, 112-116) in their 1996 unification bout at Olympia Hall. Maske (30-1, 11 KOs) has come out of more than decade in retirement to fight Hill in their Mar. 31 rematch.
