On a night that featured a boxer on the road with no chance of winning, against the man anointed as the next great Puerto Rican fighter, in front of his home crowd, fight fans expected serious fireworks.

Fight fans were dealt a bathetic finale.

Miguel Cotto could not land any meaningful punches against game challenger Oktay Urkal. Urkal, a 37 year-old fighter on the backside of his career, gave Cotto all he could handle, and even though Cotto was ahead on the cards, he could not mount a serious attack. Urkal peppered Cotto with jabs and right hooks all night, and he mixed in the occasional head butt. Cotto suffered a serious cut over his left eye from a butt, and he resorted to fighting southpaw to shield his eye from more damage. Cotto landed more punches, and he outscored Urkal, but he never overwhelmed him. Urkal
