Whippany, NJ, August 1- KEA Boxing will bring boxing fans the “Brawls at the Birchwood” on Friday, August 4th as KEA’s Friday Night Fights Series makes its debut at the elegant Birchwood Manor (www.birchwoodmanor.com) in Whippany. Mt. Arlington’s “Polish Pride,” Pawel Wolak, 9-0, 5 KO’s, will be putting his unbeaten record on the line in a match that is sure to be a war against Bayonne’s Dennis Sharpe, 17-3-1, 4 KO’s. Considering the fact that both fighters rarely take a backwards step or stop punching, the 8 round bout is sure to be a real crowd pleaser.
In the other featured bout of the evening Lyndhurst’s pride, super-middleweight Wayne “Lights Out” Johnsen, 12-1, 7 KO’s will have the house packed with the “Wayniacs” when he fights a rematch with James Sundin, 6-3, 3 KO’s. Last year the two fought at Madison Square Garden and Johnsen won a 4 round decision. Slightly over a year later, the two are scheduled to do it again over 8 rounds. Sundin is coming back to the East coast with revenge on his mind, while Johnsen will be looking to win convincingly and show how much he has improved.
Also scheduled to appear is Newark’s junior-middleweight prospect, Alex “The BrickCity Bullet” Perez, 6-0, 5 KO’s. Perez will take on Carlos Aballe, 4-2, 3 KO’s in a 6 round bout. Perez has been dominant to date, and has displayed notable power to go with his speed. He is coming off an impressive 4th round TKO on the Gatti-Baldomir undercard last week.
Hoboken’s Wendy LaMotta, 5-1, 2 KO’s, makes her return to New Jersey after three wins in the Domenican Republic. She will be taking on Leanne Villareal, 1-8-1, who is a fighter with a very deceiving record. Villareal has fought at a very high level of competition, has been 8 rounds before, and has usually fought on the road. LaMotta will be making her return to her New Jersey fans while Villareal is again traveling to her opponent’s back yard with an upset on her mind.
Wrapping up the card will be two highly anticipated professional debut’s featuring JV Tuazon taking on Omar Carroll and Nicky Demarco fighting Eric Dean.
