MY TAKE ON A FEW UPCOMING BOUTS:
(Brickcityboxing featured bout of the week)
Saturday 29 September 2012
MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut, United States
television: United States HBO

10 welterweight
Antonin Decarie 26(7)-1-0
vs
Alex Perez 16(9)-0-0
WBC International welterweight title
{In Decarie’s last 3 outings he has gone toe-to-toe with 3 very savvy warriors – defeating all three of them. His 26 wins have not come against easy opponents and Perez is no exception. Here is Alex and I from a few years back: ” http://youtu.be/QPQ9zXplvRI “}

Tuesday 25 September 2012
Omni New Daisy Theater, Memphis, Tennessee, United States
//// //// //// ////
10 cruiserweight
Lafarrell Bunting 18(17)-4(2)-1
vs
Donnell Wiggins 24(14)-13(12)-4
{Wiggins and I fought on numerous cards together back in our MISSISSIPPI days so, that offers an idea of how old he is now. He has flipped a decent pro career into that of “journeyman” status. by not winning since ’05 & having been KO’d his last 4 fights.}

Friday 28 September 2012
McGowan Hall – Knights of Columbus, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
//// //// //// ////
4 light heavyweight
Jose Spearman 28(11)-18(10)-5
vs
Dewayne Warren 2(2)-5(5)-0
{How quickly they fall in this sport: Spearman was the 1995 National Golden Gloves Champion (156lbs). He ran out of the gate racking up a
strong 13-1-2 record. Then he began to plummet. Ultimately, after over 40 professional fights, he has been matched up with an opponent whom of his 5 losses – has suffered 5 KO’s. In turn, this type opponent reflects
the confidence of those handling a once promising Jose Spearman career.}

Friday 28 September 2012
Comanche Nation Casino, Lawton, Oklahoma, United States
television: web GoFightLive.tv
//// //// //// ////
10 middleweight
George Tahdooahnippah 30(22)-0-1
vs
Gundrick King 18(11)-8(5)-0
vacant NABA middleweight title
{Still, nothing to get excited about. Don’t let records fool you. Each fighter has handpicked opponents to the UMPH degree.}

Saturday 29 September 2012
MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut, United States
television: United States HBO Hungary Sport 1
//// //// //// ////
10 super middleweight
Edwin Rodriguez 21(14)-0-0
vs
Jason Escalera 13(12)-0-1
{Finally, something to salivate after: The combined records of Rodriguez’s last 4 opponents is 73-7-2 by which he is undefeated. He is the ’06 National
Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion.Escalaera has fought 13 times and only two people have made it to the
final bell. Should be good ~}
//
USBA super middleweight title
10 super bantamweight
Luis Orlando Del Valle 16(11)-0-0
vs
Vic Darchinyan 37(27)-5(1)-1
vacant NABF super bantamweight title
{Nice cross-roads matchup between a rescending champion in Darchinyan who most recently has lost two UD-12’s in as many fights, squared up
against a rapidly rising undefeated amateur National Champion.}
//

8 super featherweight
Ryan Kielczewski 13(2)-0-0
vs
Jeremy McLaurin 9(5)-3(2)-0
{Kielczewski is another warrior whose handlers grew tired of cherry- picking before increasing his level of opposition. “The Polish Prince” has done well for himself in the process by remaining undefeated. He compiled a 118-26 amateur record. Mclaurin fired out of the gates at 7-0, before losing 3 of his last 5.}
//
8 light welterweight
Danny O’Connor 18(6)-1-0
vs
Josh Sosa 10(5)-3(1)-0
{O’Conner is the ’08 National Golden Gloves Champion.
Sosa was 10-0 before losing his last 3 fights.}
//
8 super bantamweight
Luis Rosa 10(5)-0-0
vs
Victor Valenzuela 8(1)-3(1)-0
{This is a rematch from their bout in May in which the bout was stopped due to an accidental head-butt}
//
6×2 heavyweight
Sonya Lamonakis 6(1)-0-2
vs
Tanzee Daniel 4(1)-1-1
{All I can say about these two chicks is that I saw Tanzee sparring in the gym a few months ago and was highly impressed}

Friday 5 October 2012
Epi Center, Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
//// //// //// ////
12 heavyweight
Jeremy Williams 42(35)-5(3)-1
vs
Robert Hawkins 23(7)-20(4)-0
{I just about fell out of my chair in seeing this matchup.
Get this: Upon turning pro in ’92 (yes, Hawkins is 42 years old), Hawkins has lost 17 of his last 20 fights. AND Williams, who just turned 40 (although he has done well in marketing himself as one of “THE CONTENDER” coaches) has not fought since ’07 & has only
competed once since ’04, when he was KO’d hard in 2-rounds by SAMUEL PETER. ugh, may God Bless them both}

Saturday 13 October 2012
Home Depot Center, Carson, California, United States
television: United States HBO Philippines ABS-CBN Channel 2
//// //// //// ////
12 light welterweight
Brandon Rios 30(22)-0-1
vs
Mike Alvarado 33(23)-0-0
{I know it’s just me but …. Rios got a GIFT from the judges in his last outing vs RICHARD ABRIL. What a masterful performance Abril dished out to heavily favored Rios as a last minute replacement in front of a nationally televised audience. Don’t get me wrong though,
Rios DOES have the good. Yet, the judges somehow saw things differently awarding Rios a split-decision victory. It is what it is.
Alvarado is one of the best Light-welters on the planet now.}

12 super bantamweight
Nonito Donaire 29(18)-1-0
vs
Toshiaki Nishioka 39(24)-4(1)-3
IBF super bantamweight title
WBO super bantamweight title
{Donaire is one of the top 5 fastest fighters I’ve ever seen.}

Saturday 13 October 2012
Benton Convention Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States
//// //// //// ////
8 super bantamweight
Danny Aquino 13(8)-1-0
vs
Cornelius Lock 19(12)-6(4)-1
{Lock is a slick southpaw who’s trying to comeback from losing 3 of his last 4. His sole WIN however was against another slick, fellow southpaw ORLANDO CRUZ who was undefeated at the time} ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
