9-21-12 Sands casino in Bethlehem, PA. Main Events and Peltz promotes via NBC Sports Network (Cable) Refs – Steve “Sextuple” Smoger, Gary Rosato. Judges – Dave Braslow, Pierre Benoist, Kevin Morgan, George
Hill and Dave Greer. I drove up with Abrams. Ate dinner with Marc “The King” and timekeeper
Fred “Blums” Blumstein. I was cool enough to get a freebie meal at the casino deli in return for a ringside ticket ( no problem, I know people). Running
time – 7:14 to 11:

Seven bouts. # 1: ALEX SANCHEZ, 155 1/2, Camden, N.J. KO-2 (2:14), sub
(3 days) FITZGERALD JOHNSON, 160, Newark, N.J. AS takes over in round
two – strg to body and scores two KD’s.

#2 Southpaw JEROME RODRIGUEZ, 140, Allentown, goes to 1-0-1 with a W4U
(all 40-36), over KYWAYNE HILL, 142, Phila. – now 1-10. No KD’s; JR in
control – obviously.

#3 – Fat meets fat as two .500 HW’s got it on. Result: WILLIAM MIRANDA,
231, Allentown, PA. W-6U (59-54, 59-55, 58-55) PEDRO MARTINEZ, 243,
Phila. PM down early rd. one from a jab (off balance?). Good but
sloppy (what else) action – crowd cheers. WM fights through a bad cut
left eye from round three.

#4) Cut to a four – from six TV lead in out – clear the ring! – ) JASON
SOSA, 132 1/2, Camden, NJ W-4M (38-38 39-37 twice) No KD’s. Good
action – slight edge to JS with combo punching.

#5) UPSET SPECIAL: ANTWONE SMITH, 150, Miami W-10S (all 96-94 – me;
97-93 AS) No KD’s – so-so as sluggish RC can’t get off agst. somewhat
slippery foe who pops jab and lands more as RC turns to so.paw in
frustration.RC just too slow; methdical.and has long, wild right hand.

#6) Tall SERGEY KOVALEV, 173, Russia/Ft. Laud. Fl. vs LIONEL THOMPSON, 175, Buffalo, NY.
RESULT: SK W-KO-3 (0:14). Long jab and follow right had LT backing up
right away. Two KD’s late round two – rts. – then still hurt, down
again – RSF.

#7) GABE ROSADO, 153, Phila., vs CHARLES WHITTAKER, 152 1/2,
Georgetown, Cayman IS. IBF 154 lb. elimination bout.
RESULT; GR W-TKO-10 (1:50). GR just too aggressive and powerful, but slick veteran CW gives it a go despite being down in five, seven and twice in tenth – RSF
