“Ding-a-Ling Man” Drops a Unanimous Decision to Flores on ESPN’s FNF

Darnell “Ding-a-Ling Man” Wilson was supposed to breakout into the top ranks of the cruiserweights, but B.J. Flores had other ideas.

“Ding-a-Ling Man” could not ring Flores’ bell.

Wilson looked like a one trick pony, and once he could not stop Flores, his game plan had no plan B. Flores, who was a standout amateur, boxed Wilson effectively and took the unanimous decision.

ESPN was hyping Wilson in the opening segment, and they showed his spectacular knockout of Emmanuel Nwodo repeatedly. Flores was sort of an afterthought on the broadcast, and with IBF champ Steve “USS” Cunningham in the studio, ESPN was likely hoping for a preview of a future clash between Cunningham and Wilson, as this was a title eliminator.

The 33 year-old Wilson dropped to 22-6-3, (19 KO’s) and relinquished his USBA belt. Flores, 29, remained undefeated at 21-0-1, 13 KO’s. The bout was held in front of a large crowd at Dover Downs in Delaware. Scores were 115-113 (Julie Lederman), 116-112 (Joseph Pasquale) and 118-110 (George Hill).

Fans can still catch the bout on ESPN360.com.
