Fighting out of The Brick City’s, Ironbound Boxing Gym, Newark native, resident, and former amateur star featherweight, Keith “Tsunami” Colon, 1-0, 1 KO won his professional debut earlier Saturday evening in very impressive fashion.
The 21-year-old, Rutgers University student, Colon, made quick work of Hunter Turbyfill, 4-2, 1 KO. The 29-year-old, Turbyfill, who was fighting for the seventh time as a professional out of Memphis, Tennessee entered the ring with five professional fights under his belt.
As an amateur, Colon had around 77 amateur fights, and achieved many accolades, but this was his highly anticipated professional debut. However, once the bell rung, anyone who wasn’t familiar with Mr. Colon, would have thought he was a seasoned professional.
Considering the fact that Colon stopped his opponent at 2:03 of round number 2, he was extremely patient and showed a lot in those 5 minutes and 3 seconds of work.
You can see his ring IQ and experience as he set up the 2nd round stoppage. You rarely see a guy making his pro debut and stopping a guy in 2, put in such impressive bodywork. Yes, this is one fight, but fight fans will want to follow the progress of Colon as he progresses in the featherweight division.
