At the Humo Arena, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Saturday, Matchroom Boxing – Eddie Hearn, presented in the Main Event WBA and IBF World Super Bantamweight champion Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev defended in stopping former IBF World Super Bantamweight champ and interim IBF champion Ryosuke Iwasa, in 5, over DAZN (the Zone).
In the Main Event 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist, WBA and IBF World Super Bantam champ southpaw Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev, 9-0 (7), #122, of Chust, UZB and Indio, CA, stopped former IBF Sup Ban champ southpaw Ryosuke Iwasa, 27-4 (17), #122, of Kashiwa, Chiba, JAP, at 1:30 of the fifth round in a 12.
After a close first round Akhmadaliev’s jab had an effect on Iwasa who spent most of the round against the ropes. In the third it was a big round for Akhmadaliev until the final 20 seconds when Iwasa went on the offense. In the fourth round Iwasa drew blood from the nose of Akhmadaliev who still won the round. In the fifth round Akhmadaliev landing half a dozen unanswered punched with the Russian referee Yuri Koptsev stepped in much too soon halting the fight.
WBA Int’l Super Light champ Shakhram “Wonder Boy” Giyasov, 11-0 (9), #139.5, of Bukhara, UZB and Brooklyn, NY, knocked out southpaw Patricio “Picudo” Lopez Moreno, 28-5 (20), #139.3, of La Paz, Baja CA Sur, MEX, at 2:21 of the third scoring a pair of knockdowns in a 10.
In the first round Giyasov pressured Moreno causing a cut on his hairline. In the second round a right uppercut to the chin from Giyasov and down went Moreno in the final ten seconds getting to the bell. In the third round in the final minute a right to the chin and a left hook to the body from Giyasov dropped Moreno face down for the count.
Southpaw Olympic Gold Medalist Hasanboy Dusmatov, 3-0 (3), #108, of Andijan, UZB, and Indio, CA, stopped Muhsin Kizota, 11-3 (5), #108, of Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, at 2:02 of the second round after 4 knockdowns for the vacant WBA International Light Fly title, of a 10.
In the first round Dusmatov dropped Kizota twice with right’s to the chin. In the second round after a minute a lead left on the chin from Dusmatov and down went Kizota. Shortly later in the round another left on the chin and down went Kizota. Near the end of the round Dusmatov rocked Kizota forcing the referee wisely call a halt.
Super Welter Israil “The Dream” Madrimov, 7-0 (5), #153.4, of Khiva, UZB and Indio, CA, defeated Emmany “The General” Kalombo, 14-1 (14), #153.6, of the Congo and Johanasburg, RSA, scoring a knockdown in an interesting 10.
In the first four rounds Madrimov dominated with body shots. Kalombo finally landed a bit in the fourth. In the fifth round Kalombo drew blood from the nose of Madrimov.
In the sixth round Madrimov came back well mostly countering Kalombo who was coming forward for the first in the fight. In the seventh Maderimov fought southpaw landing well. In the eighth a left hook from Madrimov on the chin drove Kalombo into the ropes for a knockdown. In the tenth and final round it was the better for Kalombo but overall fell short. Both had their faces marked up.
Scores were 100-89m 99-90 and 98-92 with this writer 98-91.
Heavyweight southpaw Bakhooir Jalolov, 8-0 (8), #250, of Sariosiyo, UZB, and Brooklyn, NY, stopped Kristaps Zutis, 7-2-2 (7), #255, of Sabile, Latvia, at 1:16 of round two of a 6.
In the second round Jalolov scored a pair of knockdowns with combinations on the chin of Zutis forcing the referee to call a halt.
Super Bantam Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov, 1-0 (1), #121, of Fergana, UZB, knocked out Tasha Mjuaji, 17-8-2 (5), #121 1/4, of Tanzania, at 2:24 of the first round of a 6.
In the first round after a minute Mirzakhalilov dropped Mjuaji with a right on the chin. With half a minute left in the round a right from Mirzakhalilov on the chin and down went Mjuaji for the count.
