At the Microsoft Theater, in Los Angeles, CA, TGB Promotions – Tom Brown, in the Main Event two-time WBA World Super Welterweight champion Cuban Erislandy “American Dream” Lara, defeated No. 11 ranked Greg “The Villain” Vendetti, of Wakefield, Mass., over FOX Saturday night. Late sub Vladimir Hernandez upset Alfredo Angulo.
In the Main Event two-time WBA World Super Welterweight champion southpaw Cuban Erislandy “American Dream” Lara, 27-3-3 (15), #153, of Houston, TX, defeated Greg “The Villain” Vendetti, 22-4-2 (12), #152 1/2, of Wakefield, Mass, over 12 rounds, also for the vacant IBO title.
In the first round Vendetti came forward with hands high getting countered by Lara. In the second and third Vendetti was outworking Lara. In the fourth Lara rocked Vendetti early in the round with a left on the chin. In the fifth thru the eighth Lara landed effective uppercuts to the chin of Vendetti. In the ninth Vendetti outworked Lara to take the round. The rest of the way it was all Lara. Jerry Cantu was the ref.
Scores were 116-112, 117-111 twice as did this writer.
In the co-feature in a war Mexican Super Middleweight Alfredo “Perro” Angulo, 26-8 (21), #167 ¾, of Coachella, CA, was upset by late sub Mexican southpaw Vlaidimir “24K” Hernandez, 12-4 (6), #165, of Denver, CO, over 10 rounds.
From the opening round the brawl continued with Hernandez a late sub taking the first four rounds. Angulo came back in the fifth to seventh. In the ninth and tenth Hernandez took over coming forward landing uppercuts on the chin of Angulo.
All scores were 98-92 with this writer 97-93.
Super Welter Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, 28-4-1 (10), #153 ¾, of Millville, NJ, lost to Brian “La Bala” Mendoza, 19-1 (13), #153 ¾, of Las Vegas, NV, over 10 rounds.
Scores were 98-92 twice and 96-94. Both had cuts from head butts.
Super Lightweight Abram Martinez, 8-0-1 (6), #141, of Las Vegas, NV, and Luis Arcon, 10-0-1 (10), #139 ¾, of VZ and Coachella, CA, split decision draw over 8 rounds.
