At the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan Saturday 22 year-old Philly welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis stopped Demian “Popi” Daniel Fernandez in 3 rounds on a Salita Promotions and T-Rex Promotions Saturday night on ShoBox.

In the Main Event Jaron “Boots” Ennis, 24-0 (22), 146 1/4, of Philadelphia, PA, scored an easy stoppage over Demian “Popi” Daniel Fernandez, 12-2 (5), 146 1/2, of Bueno Aires, Argentina, at 2:10 of the third round in a scheduled 10.

In the first round Ennis switched from orthodox to southpaw and back throughout the round easily beating Fernandez. Ennis was warned twice for low blows by referee Frank Garza. In the second round Ennis continued to dominate the defense minded Fernandez who took over a half dozen punches without return during the first minute of the round. With a minute left in the round an uppercut from Ennis on the chin rocked Fernandez.

In the third round after a dozen punches without return Ennis continued backing Fernandez against the ropes. Ennis landed punch after punch until Fernandez hit the canvas. Upon rising he motioned to the referee he had enough complaining about his right eye. Ennis landed eight body and head shots with Fernandez looking to take a knee but didn’t until several punches later.

Ennis is the best prospect out of Philadelphia since 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Meldrick Taylor. It was another sensational finish for Ennis scoring his 13th straight stoppage.

In the co-feature Heavyweight Jermaine “989 Assassin” Franklin, 20-0 (13), 231 1/2, of Saginaw, MI, scored a pair of knockdowns defeating CZ Champion Pavel “Pablo” Sour, 11-2 (6), 238, of Pizen, CZ Republic, over 10 dull rounds.

In the first round there were more clinches than punches landed. Inside of the final minute Franklin rocked Sour with a right on the chin. In the second round Sour forced what action there was as he made moved Franklin to the ropes making referee Ansel Stewart work overtime seperating the two clinch after clinch.

In the third it was more of the same with Sour landing a punch and Franklin letting him grab him. Franklin is showing no offense In was the second time the round went four minutes. In the fourth round the referee refused to warn Sour for holding. The best punch of the round was an overhand right by Franklin landing on the jaw of Sour

In the fifth round there was more punching in a clinch than not. The referee warned Sour for hitting behind the head. In the sixth round a counter wide right from Franklin on the chin of Sour knocked him down for an 8-count by referee Stewart. Sour managed to get through the round.

In the seventh round Franklin rocked Sour halfway through the round with a left hook on the chin. Sour lands a jab and grabs Franklin who does little to resist him from doing it. In the eighth round Franklin threw Sour into the ropes. A double jab from Sour backed Franklin into a corner. The holding continued on the part of both fighters.

In the ninth round Franklin landed a triple jab followed by a right to the chin of Sour into the second minute of the round. Sour looked exhausted at the end of the round. In the tenth and final round inside the second minute of the round a left from Franklin knocked Sour down for an 8-count. He got through until the final bell in possibly the worst heavyweight fight this writer ever witnessed.

Scores were 97-91, 98-91 and 98-90 with this writer 97-91.
