WBO Super Welterweight champ Jaime Munguia, of Tijuana, Baja CA, Mexico, scored a fourth round stoppage over No. 13 ranked Ghana’s Patrick Allotey at 2:18 of the round at the Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, CA, Saturday night over the Zone!
WBO Super Welterweight champion Jaime Munguia, 34-0 (27), 154, of Tijuana, Baja CA, Mexico, knocked out Patrick Allotey, 40-4 (30), 153, of Accra, Ghana, at 2:18 of the fourth round.
In the first round it was all Munguia except for one 3-punch combination at the midway point by Allotey. In the second round Munguia was much too strong for Allotey. In the third round a left hook to the mid-section on the belt line from Munguia dropped Allotey in the final minute of the round. At seconds left in the round a left hook on the chin dropped Allotey. Referee Jack Reiss gave him the 7 count when he got up.
In the fourth round a four punch combination hurt Allotey who took a knee on purpose. Upon getting up referee Reiss asked if he was okay but Allotey’s corner called a halt.
Munguia will be moving up to 160 and vacating his 154 belt.
