At the recent fight between Daniel Dubois and Richard Lartey, there was little question over who was going to win. The SSE Wembley Arena played host to the pair, and in just four rounds Dubois dispatched his opponent with a blow that knocked out the Ghanaian and secured Dubois an unbeaten 11-0 record. Still very much a youngster to the sport it is clear the heavyweight fighter is going to be hard to beat, and now he has ideas of beating Joyce as freetips.com reports.

Despite a lot of media attention Dubois has fight night down to a fine art and seems able to close off to all of the chatter and get the job done. The fight had nearly been a non-starter due to Visa problems for Lartey, but things were sorted, and he may have wished he stayed at home as Dubois made short work of dispatching him. He managed to gain some ground in the third round and gave Daniel Dubois a few sticky moments, but just before the bell in the fourth round, Dubois took back control and ended the fight with a right-handed punch that sent him to the mat.

Now it seems that the British Title needs to be settled. It is vacant at the moment, and the British Boxing Board of Control have order Dubois to meet Joyce to decide which one of them will lift that accolade. On hearing the news, Dubois was defiant and oozed confidence that the title would be an easy win for him. After the Lartey fight, he spoke to BT Sport about his win and the future meeting. “It was a firefight, and I was still basically trying to hit him with shots. I let my mind go then I thought, you know what, I need to pick the right shots. I hit him with a good shot and caught him on the point where I wanted to all night, so it was a lesson learnt. The guy was rugged and tough and strong. He swung, but it was lessons learnt again – just to be careful at all times. There are big fights lined up. If I just keep winning and keep progressing, I’m getting closer to these guys. If I keep winning, then I’ll be sharing a ring with these guys soon. Definitely, I’ll beat him (Joyce). As long as the preparation is right, I stay focused, listen to the people around me, I’ll beat anyone I believe.”

Unsurprisingly Joyce does not plan on simply laying down and letting him take the title, viewing his younger opponent as a challenge but not an unbeatable one. “He got the job done. It was a very entertaining fight. He got a little bit troubled by Lartey at some points, but he took him out of there. It’s an option (fighting Dubois). I’ve got a fight in Stevenage on May 18. That’s a good warm-up, then I should be out again in July. Potentially, I’m going to speak to Frank (Warren) and my managers, and we’ll see what’s out there.”
