LAS VEGAS (Aug. 20, 2018) – Joshua “Don’t Blink” Greer Jr. is ready to wreak havoc on the bantamweight division. Greer (17-1-1, 9 KOs) has signed a multi-fight promotional contract with Top Rank, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum announced today.
Greer, a Chicago native, will campaign as a bantamweight after fighting at both bantamweight and super bantamweight throughout his career. His debut under the Top Rank banner will be announced soon.
“It’s a great opportunity and a dream come true,” Greer said. “I’m ready to show the world who I am. There are different levels in boxing, and with Top Rank, I feel like they can help me become world champion and give me the exposure that I want. Don’t blink!”
“I believe with all the experience that Top Rank has, and the ESPN deal, this is a great opportunity for Joshua,” said Antonio Leonard, Greer’s co-promoter. “When you think of sports, you think of ESPN. With ESPN+ and ESPN, we’re going to have so much boxing going on. It’s a great opportunity for any fighter, and for Joshua, it’s going to help him get to the next level.”
Greer turned pro in September 2015 and won the first three bouts of his career before an 0-1-1 skid, which included a four-round majority decision defeat to then-unbeaten Stephen Fulton. Since then, he has won 14 consecutive fights, including six of his past seven via knockout. Greer put the boxing world on notice on March 10, 2017, knocking out James Smith in the sixth round of a nationally televised bout. A right hand put Smith down and out in what was a contender for Knockout of the Year.
Greer fought three more times in 2017, including a fifth-round stoppage against the crafty Leroy Davila. He is 2-0 thus far in 2018, knocking out Basilio Nieves in the third round, and most recently, scoring an eighth-round stoppage against Glenn Dezurn on May 11 in Philadelphia.
