At the Osage Casino, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Saturday promoters Holden Productions – Tony Holden, Star Boxing – Joe DeGuardia and Top Rank – Bob Arum over ESPN+ and ESPN presented in the Main Event Joe Smith, Jr. defeating Maxim Vlasov for the vacant WBO World Light Heavyweight title by majority decision.
In the Main Event No. 1 ranked “The Beast from the East” Joe Smith, Jr., 27-3 (21), #174 ¾, of Long Island, NY, defeated by majority decision No. 2 ranked Maxim Vlasov, 45-4 (26), #175, of Samara, Russia, for the vacant WBO World Light Heavy title, over 12 rounds.
In the first round Vlasov kept coming forward and outworking Smith. In the second round Vlasov cut the left eyebrow of Smiths. Smith rocked Vlasov with a right on the chin in the final minute of the round. In the third round Vlasov continued outworking Smith. In the fifth round Vlasov continued getting off first.
In the sixth round Smith landed right upper cuts bloodying the mouth of Vlasov. In the ninth round Vlasov continued out landing Smith. In the tenth round it was Smith rocking Vlasov with a right on the chin at the halfway mark. In the eleventh round Smith hurt Vlasov with body shots. Smith landed two rights on the back of the head dropping Vlasov. Vlasov was allowed to go to his own corner upsetting Smith’s promoters by all rights. In the twelfth and final round Smith outworked Vlasov.
Scores were 114-114, 115-113 and 115-112 with this writer 114-114.
In the co-feature Nigerian Olympic Heavyweight Efe Jagba, 15-0 (12), #239 ½, of Stafford, TX, knocked out Brian “MVP” Howard, 15-5 (12), #218, of Loganville, GA, at 1:29 of the third round of a 10.
In the first round it was all Jagba having Howard hurt at one point with a right driving Howard to the ropes. In the second round it was all Jagba again. In the third round Jagba landed a thunderous lead right on the ear of Howard and down he went on his side and out.
Super Feather 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Robson ”Nino” Conceicao, 16-0 (8), #128 ¼, of Salvador, Bahia, BRZ, stopped Jesus “La Cobra” Antonio Ahumada, 17-4 (11), #129 ¼, of Hermosillio, Sonora, MEX, at 1:20 of the seventh round of an 8.
In the first two rounds Conceicao easily took both. In the third through the fifth rounds the action picked up with both getting punches in while Conceicao won each round. In the sixth round Ahumada was bleeding from the nose and mouth but fighting back well but Conceicao was able to slip most of the punches while countering well. In the seventh round a right to the body followed by a left hook to the chin from Conceicao and Ahumada went down. He barely beat the count but referee Gerald Ritter wisely waved it off with the face of Ahumada swelling on the right side.
Heavyweight Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson, 9-0 (9), #251 ¾, of Toledo, OH, knocked out southpaw Jeremiah “The Bullfrog” Karpency, 16-3-1 (6), #226 ½, of Adah, PA, at 0:34 of the second round of a scheduled 8.
In the first round the third right to the body by Anderson dropped Karpency for an 8-count just prior to the bell. He got up and fought his way to the end. In the second round a right from Anderson to the same spot as the last punch dropped him and down went Karpency shaking his head on a knee taking the full count from referee Tony Krebs.
Heavyweight Trey Lippe Morrison, 17-0 (17), #225 ¾, of Tulsa, OK, won by injury over southpaw Jason “The Ironman” Bergman, 27-20-2 (18), #256, of Birmingham, AL, at 1:27 of the third of an 8.
In the first round it was all Morrison until a push punch from Bergman put Morrison down ruled not a knockdown by referee Gerald Ritter. Bergman went after the referee for not ruling it one. In the second round Bergman continued clowning more than fighting with little from either fighter. In the third round Bergman went to throw a punch and his ankle went out on him and down he went for the count due to injury. It was a very sloppy fight.
Lightweight “Prince” Albert Bell, 18-0 (5), #132 ¼, of Toledo, OH, defeated Manuel Rey “The Punisher” Rojas, 20-5 (6), #132, of Dallas, TX, over 8 rounds.
In the first round Bell came out firing punches having Rojas in trouble halfway through the round but didn’t follow up against the shorter Rojas. In the third round a clash of heads caused a cut on the forehead of Rojas. From the fourth through the sixth it was even.
In the seventh round Rojas worked his way back into the fight making it close. In the eighth and final round Bell came out swinging wildly getting hit on the nose by Rojas drawing blood.

Feather Duke Ragan, 4-0 (1), #125 ¾, of Cincinnati, OH, defeated Charles Clark, 3-7-1 (1), #126 ½, of Dallas, TX, after 6 lackluster rounds.
All scores 60-54 as was this writer’s score.
In the first round it was even until Clark tossed Ragan to the canvas getting a warning from referee Gerald Ritter. In the second and third rounds Ragan controlled what action there was. In the last three rounds it was all Ragan with Clark holding throughout.
Heavyweight Sonny “The Bronco” Conto, 7-0 (6), #230 ¼, of Philadelphia, PA, scored a sensational knockout over Waldo Cortes Acosta, 6-4 (3), #262, of AZ, at 1:41 of a scheduled 4.
In the first round Conto controlled with an effective jab when he landed a right to the face over a missed left from Acosta and down Acosta went for the ten-count.
Heavyweight Jeremiah “The Dreamland” Milton, 3-0 (3), #232 ¾, of Tulsa, OK, now Las Vegas, NV, scored a stunning stoppage over Jayvone Dafney, 2-3 (2), #222 ½, of McComb, MS, at 1:19 of the first round of a 4.
In the first round Milton landed an overhand right on the chin putting Dafney against the ropes “stunned and froze” there as referee Tony Krim called a halt.
