In the Main Event WBC & WBO World Female Featherweight and 7 division champion southpaw Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, 40-1-1 (30), #124.8, of PR and Brooklyn, NY, knocked out 3 division champion Daniela “La Bonita” Bermudez, 29-4-3 (10), #125, of Rosario, Sante Fe, ARG, in defense of WBC and WBO titles and winning vacant IBO title at 1:33 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10.
In the first round Bermudez landed lead rights to the chin of southpaw Serrano in a close round. In the second round Serrano showed her better hand speed to take the round. In the third round Bermudez kept coming forward with Serrano countering well taking the round. In the fourth round Bermudez found herself walking into the punches of Serrano. In the fifth round Serrano showed a good jab and angles.
In the sixth round Serrano landed numerous counter lefts to the chin of Bermudez. In the seventh round Serrano did more in the middle of the ring out landing Bermudez. Serrano’s trainer Jordan Maldonado was removed from corner due to using bad language against referee Roberto Ramirez, Jr. In the eighth round a straight left early in the round on the chin rocked Bermudez. In the ninth round Bermudez with hands down took several lead left punches on the chin from Serrano. Serrano landed a left and right to the body of Bermudez knocking her to the canvas on her knees for the 10 count by referee Roberto Ramirez, Jr. All 3 officials had it 80-72 after 8 rounds.
“This is boxing and you get hit. I showed I had power until the very end until the knockout. I have a great team. The body shot ended it and I might have to change my name to the Body Snatcher,” said Serrano.
Super Bantamweight Abimael “Manos de Piedra” Ortiz, 8-1-1 (4), #121.8, of Cidra, PR, lost to Eduardo “Lalo El Gemelo” Baez, 19-1-2 (6), #121.6, of MEX and Calexico, CA, over 8 action packed rounds.
In the first round both fighters let it all out in a real slugfest! In the second through the fourth rounds the slugging continued with Baez having the edge being the busier of the two.
In the fifth round Ortiz had his best round. In the seventh round Baez landed many overhand rights to the head of Ortiz. In the eighth and final round 30 seconds into it Ortiz landed his best punch of the night a right to the chin of Baez. Baez came back finishing the stronger of the two. Referee was Luis Pabon.
Scores 80-72 and 79-73 twice as well 79-73 by this writer.
Super Bantamweight southpaw Carlos “Purin” Caraballo, 14-0 (14), #120 1/4, of Ponce, PR, stopped Leonardo “Leon” Baez, 18- 4 (9), #119 1/2, of Mexicali, Baja CA, MEX, at 2:36 of the fourth of a scheduled 8.
In the first round Caraballo outworked Baez. In the second round southpaw Caraballo landed three uppercuts on the chin dropping Baez for 8-count from referee Roberto Ruiz, Jr. In the third round Baez bounced back well with body shots. In the fourth round Caraballo landed left uppercuts to the body of Baez hurting him when the corner of Baez threw in the towel.
IBHOF Referee Steve “Double SS” Smoger was network judge. WBA World Female Mini champion Seneisa Estrada and Bob Papa commentators at ringside.
