At the Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, CT, Wednesday night over ShoBox The New Generation, Salita Promotions – Dmitriy Salita, featured in the Main Event Janelson Figueroa Bocachica defeated Mark Reyes, Jr. In the co-feature, Vladimir Shishkin easily defeated Sena Agbeko.
In the Main Event welterweight Janelson Figueroa Bocachica, 17-0 (11), #146 1/2, of Detroit, MI, defeated Mark Reyes, Jr., 14-1 (12), #146 1/2, of Tampa, FL, over 10 rounds.
In the first round two rounds Reyes outworked Bocachica who came back to take the third through eighth rounds outworking Reyes. In the ninth round Reyes became the aggressor chasing Bocachica. In the tenth and final round it was all Reyes as Bocachica clowned around.
Referee was Danny Schiavone. Scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 97-93 with this writer 96-94. Reyes gave the fight away as his trainer Chino Rivas told him.
In the co-feature Super Middleweight Vladimir Shishkin, 12-0 (7), #169, of Russia and Oak Park, MI, easily defeated Sena Agbeko, 23-2 (18), #168 3/4, of Ghana and Nashville, TN, over 10 rounds.
In the first round Shishkin was the aggressor and busier though suffered a small cut in the second round on the corner of the left eye. Agbeko kept running while Shishkin’s jab won round after round. In the first nine rounds it was all Shishkin. In the tenth and final round with the cut holding up Shishkin won all ten rounds.
Referee was Arthur Mercante, Jr., Judges scores 98-92 and 100-90 twice as did this writer.
Lightweight Alejandro “Pork Chop” Guerrero, 12-1 (9), #135, of Irving, TX, lost to Abraham “Fily” Montoya, 20-2-1 (14), #135, of Mexicali, Baja CA, Mexico, over 8 action rounds.
In the first round there was no feeling each other out. They were both throwing bombs. In the second the slugfest continued with Montoya having an edge through five rounds.
In the sixth and seventh rounds Guerrero came out firing once rocking Montoya in the sixth round. In the eighth and final round Montoya did well in an all action fight.
Scores were 76-76, 79-73 and 77-75 with this writer 78-74. Referee was Johnny Callas.
