At the Shrine Exhibition Center, in Los Angeles, CA, Wednesday over PBC and Fox Sports 1, TGB Promotions – Tom Brown featured in the Main Event Eimantes Stanionis who stopped Janer Gonzalez in 9 rounds of an entertaining bout.
In the Main Event former Olympian Welterweight Eimantes Stanionis, 12-0 (9), #148.6, of Lithuania and Oxnard, CA, scored 3 knockdowns stopping Janer Gonzalez, 19-4-1 (15), #149, of Cartagena, COL, at 0:45 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.
In the first round of a slugfest Stanionis edged out Gonzalez. In the second round a left hook from Stanionis to the ribs of Gonzalez dropped him for an 8-count by referee Cantu. In the third round Gonzalez bounced back but still outgunned by Stanionis. In the fourth round Stanionis continued walking down Gonzalez. In the fifth round Stanionis landed twice as many punches than Gonzalez.
In the sixth round Stanionis landed solid jabs followed by left hook’s to the ribs but Gonzalez took it firing back. In the eighth round a right uppercut from Stanionis on the chin of Gonzalez and down he went for an 8-count as the bell sounded. In the ninth round a solid overhand right from Stanionis on the chin of Gonzalez and down he went for a third time in the fight causing referee Cantu to wisely wave it off.
Featherweight Jose “El Mudo” Perez, 9-1-1 (4), of Oak Hills, CA, #124.8, knocked out Jose Edgardo Garcia, 13-1-2 (9), #125.4, of Honduras & Houston, TX, at 0:39 of the fourth round of a scheduled 8.
In the first two rounds Perez got the better of it. In the third round’s last minute a left hook from Garcia on the chin stunned Perez. Thirty seconds into the fourth round a solid right from Perez on the chin of Garcia and down he went for the count by referee Rudy Barragan.
18 year-old Lightweight Fernando Angel Molina, 4-0 (2), #133.2, of Gudalajara, MEX, defeated Teodora “El Regalo” Alonso, 3-3 (0), #135, of L.A., CA, over 6 rounds.
In the first five rounds Molina countered well outscoring the aggressive Alonso who switched from orthodox to southpaw throughout. In the sixth and final round in the final minute Alonso got in more punches than Molina. Referee was Jerry Cantu.
Scores were 60-54 twice and 59-55. This writer scored 60-54.
Middleweight southpaw Eumir Felix Marcial, 1-0 (0), #162.4, of Zamboanga City, PH, impressed defeating game Andrew Whitfield, 3-2 (2), #165.8, of Lewiston, Idaho, over 4 solid rounds.
In the first round both fighters had their moments with Marcial getting the best of it with Whitfield’s right eye bruised underneath. In the second round Marcial continued doing damage to the right eye of Whitfield that was close to closing by the end of the round in a slugfest. In the third round the swelling of Whitfield’s eye was bulging out. In the fourth and final round the gutsy Whitfield never stopped coming forward though being outgunned by southpaw Marcial.
