“I truly realized my power during my current knockout streak (8 ko’s and draw with Fury). I looked at my record and realized I was running through guys and knocking them out. My power is God-given; I don’t have to do anything at all. I don’t have to lift weights or do a special type of cardio; it’s born with me. God placed me in this position,” said Wilder.
The 6’7″ Wilder, 42-0-1 (41), out of Tucaloosa, AL, drew with the 6’9″ Fury, 29-0-1 (20), out of Chesire, UK, battled to a draw in December of 2018 at Staples Center, in L.A. This Saturday they will rematch at the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, NV. Wilder before the Fury fight stopped the dangerous then unbeaten at 28-0, southpaw Cuban Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, ahead by one point on all judges scores in the tenth round. Then in a rematch in his last bout stopped Ortiz once again while behind on all judges scores in November by knockout in seven.
“I don’t believe anything Fury says. I think he is just trying to butter me up and use a lot of mind games. He did that in the first fight to try and steal rounds, so we were lucky that we had experienced judges that weren’t influenced by that. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, and I’m sure he’s been waiting as well. Our first fight was amazing, and this is going to be an even more intense,” said Wilder.
