Salita Promotions – Dmitriy Salita put on a triple header Friday over ShoBox’s 250th show at the WinnaVegas Casino & Resort in Sloan, Iowa. Unbeaten boxers Vladimir Shishkin, Shohjahon Ergashev and Jarico O’Quinn were all victorious.
In the Main Event Super Middleweight Russian Vladimir Shishkin, 10-0 (6), #167 1/2, out of Detroit, Michigan, easily defeated Ulises Sierra, 15-1-2 (9), #167, out of San Diego, CA, 10 rounds.
In the first round it was all Shishkin. In the second round Shishkin controlled the fight with Sierra landing a few rights to the chin. In the third round Sierra warned for low blow landing the third body shot low. Shishkin continues outworking Sierra landing rights to the chin. Completely out punching Sierra.
In the fourth round it was a closer round but Shishkin continues to hold the edge. In the fifth round it was Shishkin landing right after right to the chin of Sierra who seemed to have an off round. In the sixth round Shishkin continued out punching Sierra especialy with the right.
In the seventh round Sierra took over as Shishkin in the second half of the round was moving without punching. In the eighth round Shishkin came back strong, driving Sierra around the ring. In the ninth round Shishkin continued beating on Sierra.
In the tenth and final round Shishkin tried for the knockout but couldn’t pull it off. Sierra barely survived the round.
Scores were Walsh and Wolff 99-91 and Weisfeld 100-90 while this writer had it 99-91
In the co-feature Super Lightweight southpaw Shohjahon “Descendant of Tamerlane” Ergashev, 18-0 (16), #140, out of Uzbekistan, living in Detroit, knocked out Mexican Adrian “Diamante” Estrella, 29-5 (24), #141, out of Ft. Worth, Texas, at 1:32 of the first round in a scheduled 10.
In the first round Ergashev kept coming forward when a left uppercut to the body and down went Estrella holding his stomach and not able to get up being counted out.
Super Flyweight Jarico O’Quinn, 14-0-1 (9), #118 1/2, out of Detroit, Michigan, defeated Oscar “Chapito” Vasquez, 15-3-1 (3), #117 ¼, out of Sun Valley, Nevada, over 8 exciting rounds.
In the first round Vasquez forced the action. O’Quinn was warned for pushing Vasquez to the canvas, holding and to keep his punches up by referee Pollack. In the second round the quicker O’ Quinn fights well off the ropes but is pushed back into the ropes by Vasquez throughout the round.
In the third and fourth rounds O’Quinn outworks Vasquez in a very good round. In the fifth round for the first time in the fight O’Quinn backs up Vasquez. In the sixth round Vasquez has slowed down while O’Quinn started using his jab effectively while moving around the ring. Vasquez ended the round well.
In the seventh round O’Quinn continued landing many more punches than Vasquez. In the eighth and final round Vasquez warned for holding. Halfway thru the round a lead right by O’Quinn on the chin rocked Vasquez. Again, just under a minute O’Quinn rocked Vasquez with a lead right. It was a good fight.
