Simon Carr a former boxer said “John DiSanto” of Philly Boxing History has been talking for 15 years about having a museum in Philly!
Does anyone know when this museum is going to take place? John has acquired a lot of memorabilia through the years from various fighters such as USS Steve Cunningham, “Joltin” Jeff Chandler, “Bad” Bennie Briscoe and various others.
People are beginning to ask when this museum is going to take place? I know John has done many great things in the past such as the “Briscoe Awards” and “Tombstones for Boxers” who do not have one and he puts his best foot forward but I think Philly would love to have a museum. The VBA Ring One has a Hall of Fame in their upstairs of which John was instrumental on.
I think boxing people in general would love to see a Philly Boxing Museum. There are many great champs past and present in the city of Philadelphia as well as boxers that deserve to see this museum go up! I for one, Dave Ruff have sold John robes, trophies and various things with the promise there would be a museum as well as others he purchased from.
“I think John may need a helping hand from people like IBHOF inductee J Russell Peltz who may have more to offer than anyone when it comes to memorabilia and obtaining a building in Philadelphia, I don’t know how much Peltz would be interested in while he is a great guy but I think it might need some political people to help. I think this museum is long overdue before I pass or anyone else passes including for boxers, referees, promoters and others. I hope that one politician will read this article and help John give the push he needs. Again, not knocking John but I think its long overdue,” said Dave Ruff.
