On May 11th two Philadelphia boxers fought for world titles on the same card at the Eagle Bank Arena and both won world titles. One hit the news but the other didn’t.
Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton, 16-0 (7), won the IBO World Super Bantamweight title on the undercard took the title from Paulus “The Rock” Ambunda, 27-3 (11), of Windhoek, Nambia, over 12 rounds by scores of 120-107 by all 3 judges.
In the Main Event Julian “J-Rock” Williams won the WBA, IBF and IBO World Super Welterweight titles defeating, 27-1-1 (15), defeating champion Jarett “Swift” Hurd, 23-1 (15), of Accokeek, MD, over 12 rounds by scores of 116-111 and 115-112 twice.
The first champion prior to these two is southpaw IBF World Super Featherweight Tevin “American Idol” Farmer, 29-4-1 (6). He defended his title for the third time March 15th defeating southpaw Jano “Celtic Warrior King Kong” Carroll, 16-1-1 (13), of Dublin, Ireland, over 12 rounds by scores of 117-111 twice and 117-110.
