In just 25 months Jaron “Boots” Ennis has answered the call winning all 20 fights, 18 by stoppage. He is a former Olympic alternate and No. 1 USBA contender only because no one would fight him in the top 10. The USBA should have promoted him to Champion and if anyone wanted that title they would have to take it from him!
This Friday GH-3 Promotions on ShoBox at 10pmEst Ennis meets unbeaten Armando “The Gentleman” Alvarez, 18-0 (12), of Key West, FL. Ennis is following in the footsteps of his brothers “Pooh” Ennis who held the USBA title and Farah Ennis who held the NABF title. All 3 managed and trained by their father “Bozy” Ennis at his gym “Bozy’s Dungeon” on Venango Street off Kensington Avenue in North Philadelphia.
Ennis had this to say about his bout Friday: “I can’t wait to get in the ring and rock and roll. I’m ready to put on a show July 20th and the world will see who Jaron “Boots” Ennis is. I will be the one to watch at 147.”
Both fighters will be meeting their toughest foes up until now in their young careers. The winner goes on to bigger and better things. Alvarez had this to say: “This is a big opportunity for both of us. I have been waiting for this opportunity for awhile. I’m very focused and very motivated. I’m very excited to be fighting on ShoBox and for the world to find out who Armando “The Gentleman” Alvarez is on July 20th”.
The talent packed undercard features Chinese boxers heavyweight Zhilel Zang, 18-0 (14), and light heavyweight Fanlong Meng, 12-0 (7), ranked No. 7 in the IBF rankings. Also featured will be unbeaten Philadelphia heavyweight Darmani Rock, 11-0 (7).
