After the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 49-1-2 (34) and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, 38-0-1 (34), match last September this writer felt Golovkin won. I felt Danny Jacobs gave Golovkin a better fight. Jacobs skipped the second weigh-in and probably came in between 180 and 185 if Golovkin came in at 170 the day of the fight.
Alvarez should fight at super welterweight and a fight with WBC Super Welterweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo, 31-0 (15). Since when does a fighter fail a drug test and the decision isn’t changed to a No Contest or No Decision? How can the Canelo and GGG fight remain a draw? Why should the champion (GGG) make less money than the challenger who has no titles (Canelo)?
GGG’s manager, advisor or promoter Tom Loeffler should have Golovkin defend the IBF title against the No. 1 contender Russian Sergiy “The Techian” Derevyanchenko, 12-0 (10), out of Brooklyn, NY. Then a match with WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders would follow for all the belts.
Interim WBC World Middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, 27-0 (21), and No. 3 WBC and No. 1 WBO contender Demitrius “Boo Boo” Andrade, 25-0 (16), would be a good match-up.
Whatever Gennady “GGG” Golovkin does he is a class act and handles himself out of the ring with dignity and deserves only the best!
