“A Night of LIVE Boxing” in DE Saturday Featuring Caputo & Seever Going to War!
Dee Lee Promotions in association with Night Night Promotions and Nick Tiberi as matchmaker are putting on an 8 fight event at the Hockessin PAL Center in Hockessin, DE, Saturday night! This is their first promotion of 2018 having two in 2017 and if you have been there for those you know you won’t be dissatisfied with the fights!
In the Main Event returning after 17 months is the ever popular former PA light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion Anthony Caputo “Bull” Smith, 15-8 (10), out of nearby Kennett Square, PA, takes on Tyler Seever, 14-17-1 (12), of St. Joseph, MO, in a Cruiserweight bout.
At the press conference Thursday in Wilmington, DE, this writer had the best Italian meatball sandwich in his life at Scalessa’s “My Way” Old School Italian Kitchen, 1836 N. Lincoln St. Four of the boxer’s on the card plus DE’s favorite boxer and co-promote Joey Tiberi, Jr. along with his uncle Nick Tiberi and of course Diane Fischer of Dee Lee who will be inducted into the Atlantic City, NJ, Boxing Hall of Fame on June 3rd serving as spokeswoman at the press conference.
Both Smith and Seever showed each other total respect and promising a war of a fight. Smith is 10-1 in DE rings and Seever is a one-time holder of the Mid-American and USA Mid-West Cruiserweight title and who challenged for the IBU World Cruiser title in Gabon, a West African Nation.
Appearing in his ring debut former highly decorated Marine Stefan “The Freak” Talabisco of Elsmere, DE, will meet Brian Richardson, 0-2, from Dorchester, MA, in a heavyweight bout. It’s been Talabisco’s dream since he was a novice Golden Glove champion prior to entering the Marine Corp. “I’ve been taken under the wing by the promotion people and want to thank (matchmaker) Nick Tiberi for making it happen,” said Talabisco.
Super Middleweight Brandon Mullins, 1-0, who made his debut last November at the PAL was very impressive in posting his win. “It’s an honor to be on a show Nick (Tiberi) is matchmaking being one of the finest in the country,” said Mullins. He will be taking on Rashee Therran Smalls, 0-0-3 of Charleston, SC.
Heavyweight Michael Crain, 1-2, of Smyrna, DE, takes on Faeji Moorer, making his debut from Locust Grove, PA. Super Middleweight Justin “King” Johnson, 6-14-6 of Pittsburgh, PA, who has wins over 4 previously unbeaten opponents and a draw against Wilkins Santiago, 12-1-2, takes on Headley Scott, 10-0 (9), of Jonesboro, GA.
In a bout with the pair making their debut’s Celestine Augustine Wenegieme, of NY, takes on Kwasi Horton, of Baltimore, MD. Lightweight David Veras Pena, of Odenton, MD, takes on Dionte Burts, 1-0 (1), of Washington, DC. Super Welterweight Dominican Felix Manzueta, 1-0, of Dover, DE, who made his debut in June of 2017 hopes to have an opponent by fight time.
Doors open at 6pm with the first fight scheduled at 7pm.
