Having Irish boxers fight on St. Patty’s Day was a big deal but it seems on two shows I am aware of in the US are running them. One is in House of Blues in Boston and MSG in New York. The latter is on ESPN.
The House of Blues show has in the main event Danny O’Connor, 29-3 (11), of Framington, MASS taking on Steve Claggett, 26-4-1 (17), from Calgary, Alberta, CAN for the WBC International Silver Super Lightweight title.
The co-feature is T.J. Doheny, 18-0 (13), born in Ireland but fighting out of New South Wales in Australia. He takes on Mike Oliver, 26-7-1 (8), of Hartford, CT. Oliver hasn’t fought for the last twenty-nine months.
The show at MSG has Jose Carlos Ramirez, 21-0 (16), of Avenal, CA, taking on Amir Imam, 21-1-1 (18), of Albany, NY, for the vacant WBC World Super Lightweight title.
The co-feature has Oleksandr Gvozdyk, 14-0 (12), of Kharkov, UKR, living in Oxnard, CA, defending his interim WBC Light heavyweight title against Mehdi Amar, 34-5-2 (16), of Marseille, France.
