Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. The Circus has left town while the two “charlatans” took millions with them. Will there be a return match in McGregor’s home country of Ireland on St. Patty’s Day? It was a scheme from the beginning and who would have thought MMA and fight fans could have been so gullible.
Shilling out over $100 for PPV people must have been desperate for “entertainment”. The yelling back and forth was a WWF act between two friends, Mayweather and McGregor that too many people lacking knowledge fell for.
The Marciano family should bring a lawsuit against the Nevada Commission for allowing this to be considered on record an official bout. Since when does a 49-0 boxers meet a 0-0 boxer. Larry “Easton Assassin” Holmes tried pulling it off against Butterbean by making a 4 or 5 round boxer go 10 rounds to humiliate the Redneck cracker from Alabama but found himself on the canvas in the 10th and final round.
Mayweather made sure a partial referee was in charge who was the same referee that handled the first Ward-Kovalev match and allowed Ward to initiate 46 clinches without taking a point from him. In the end though this writer had Kovalev ahead by 5 points the three judges had Ward ahead by one point. Just taking one point from Ward and it would have been a draw with Kovalev retaining his title. Like in the Holmes match Mayweather sees to it the bout is for 12 rounds. Is it a world title fight? Has McGregor ever even gone 5 rounds?
This writer refused to watch the Circus and knew if both are yelling at each other the way they did the “fix” was in. It was a highly advertised “sparring session!” The 50* should have an asterisk next to it. Mayweather must have had thousands of hangers-on telling him to get No. 50 ahead of the late great Rocky Marciano. This writer felt Mayweather would be back in three years broke and just like Aaron Pryor take on the wrong opponent and there goes the “0”. He made it sound like he respected Marciano’s record of some 60 years that had been passed but broken later by half a dozen boxers first defeat. He claimed after the fight “I will never fight again!” He said it two years ago. How many boxers have said that and returned to the ring?
In Thailand a little WBC Minimum World champion named Chayaphon Moonsri recently improved his record to 48-0. He may only weigh 105 pounds but a Mayweather and Moonsri bout in Bangkok could bring in millions! I’m just kidding fans who were taken to the cleaners. Yes, I refused to watch this Circus and hoped they would bump heads in the first round and result in a technical draw but it didn’t happen. The Asians are much smarter than that though in Thailand where the Travel Bureau runs things since there is no commission.
Don King’s mouth must have been watering watching this event unravel. Bob Arum must have felt the same. Let’s get on with some real boxing with GGG and Canelo coming to town next month.
