A new wave of boxing has arrived. Jay-Z’s ‘Roc Nation Sports’ will set out to put a new spin on the typical boxing event with “Throne Boxing” on January 9, 2015 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Well known ring announcer Michael Buffer will be doing his infamous routine, while DJ Mustard and radio/tv emcee Angie Martinez will be keeping everyone entertained as well. If that’s not enough star power, rapper Fabolous will be performing live throughout the night. Let’s not forget the boxing to go along with all of this top shelf entertainment.
The main event will feature welterweight prospect Dusty Hernandez-Harrison (24-0, 13 KOs), of Washington, D.C. against fan favorite Tommy Rainone (22-5-1, 4 KOs), of Plainview, New York in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds. Hernandez-Harrison is a promising undefeated 20 year old prospect, his last bout was a knockout within the first two minutes of round 1 in November. Rainone will come to the ring with more experience at 34 years of age, along with a large fan base that will be heard Friday night in New York City. Tommy is coming off a 10 round unanimous decision, also in November. Neither of these boxers are strangers to Madison Square Garden, as each of them has 2 wins and no losses at the venue.
This inaugural event is the first of a three event deal that Throne Boxing has with Fox Sports 1. Tickets are on sale now at the MSG box office, online at www.thegarden.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Pricing for the event will be $205, $105, $55 and $30. One dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to the Muhammad Ali Center. If you can’t make the event be sure to watch it live on Fox Sports 1, and stay tuned for future events from Roc Nation Sports.
