By: “The Legendary”, Jack Obermayer
Made it home safely by 5:30PM Elizabeth Township (not just Elizabeth), PA. – just south of Pittsburgh. Jowett-Boy and I do the deed. While others are shutout on the east coast, we get one in – and a new town (#359 for me) I have to hustle, “The Creep” is creeping up on me) Also able to do The Highspire Diner (a classic Silk City) in Highspire, PA . – just outside Harris burgt AND, on return trip did (first time visit) The Gatto Diner – a Jerry O’Mahoney built diner from Elizabeth, NJ. – attached to a Harley-Davidson showroom in Tarentum, PA. – cooking done out front!!! I bought a coffee mug.
Only 4 bouts. Pro – Boxer Rod Salka and Rico Abbondanza. No Greg Sirb in attendance. Time – 7:59 to 10:09.
Results: White boy ROD SALKA, 140 1/2, W6U (60-54, 59-55 TWICE – ME 60-54), a game GABE MORRIS, 140, Toledo. No KD’s. Good act. GM tries to box; RS – now 13-1 (3), goes strong to body and has a scoring rt. hand. GM better than his losing record.
White boy DAN HARVISON, 194, McKeesport, PA., W4U, switch-hitting RAYSHAWN MYERS, 189, Cleveland. Scores: all 40-36. NO KD’s. So-so. Lots of posturing. 32 yr. old DH back after a year or so; now 15-0. but he’s too cautious.RM: too much nonsense.
Talk about nonsense. Big JOHN SMITH, 271 1/2, Columbus, OH – with Buster Dougles in corner – W4U junk artist BS’er, MIKE MILLER, a FAT 295, Akron. NO KD’s; little action. Scores: 39-37 and two at 40-36 – me too. JS is a SLOW boxer type who ain’t going anywhere that is up.
In opener (one exhibition before this), Tall ANTOWYAN AIKENS, 167, A.C., goes to 2-0, with a W4M (38-36, 39-35,37-37 – me too) JOHNAIL FAIRLEY, 168, Pittsburgh. JF down in rd. 2; AA hurt n 3rd – lost pt. for holding and tires in 4th. JF is slow, crude and too straight up.
P.S. Me of all people had to show proof of who I was to get in!! Doesn’t my reputation proceed me? Rico let us in because I told him we drove all this way.Thankfully Jowett-Boy had one of my writeips in his bag to show him. LOL everyone.
Show # 42 of the year; 3,302 lifetime. Bye-Bye.
