Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KOs) used his superior reach and physically to knock out Zab Judah (41-7, 28 KOs) in the fifth round to unify the WBA and IBF titles at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Khan came out aggressively in the opening round jabbing and throwing straight right hands. Many of the punches were short, but the rhythm of the fight was set. Khan kept getting off first while Judah, employing the defensive teachings of his Hall of Fame trainer Pernel Whitaker ducked out of the way. Khan connected with a slashing right near the end of the round.
In round two, Khan came out more energetically pursuing Judah and landing a good right and check left hook. Judah countered with a sneaky left of his own but was still posing more than punching. Khan reached him again with a stinging right near the bell ending the round. The right side of Judah’s face was swelling from an accidental clash of heads.
Judah landed two nice counter hooks that slowed down Khan for a few seconds in round three. Khan rebounded near the middle of the round with a flashy left right combination that stunned Judah. Khan
